Cub Cadet at Outdoor Power Equipment

Recently I spend a day at Outdoor Power Equipment, a local Cub Cadet dealer in Clinton making photos. I spent time on the sales floor, the repair shop, make photos of their credit card information and make a few portraits of Mr. Smiddy as well. A great day and I walked away with a huge selection of images I liked, more than I can share at one time, but here are a few from the day.

Knoxville Marathon 2013

Last weekend I was up early and working long during the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon. I really enjoy shooting races, running and marathons, I really like the photos they make and I have shot this one for five years. This year was the same in the fact that I really like the photos I made. I’m under no illusion that I could run that far, half the time I don’t even want to drive that far if I need groceries but I do like to make photos of people who are not only able to run that far but do it that fast.

Chalk Walk

Last weekend was the annual Chalk Walk as part of the Dogwood Arts Festival on Market Square. I look at the chalk drawings they make and thing to myself, the chalk drawings I make with my son in the driveway really are terrible (although that information is not new). It was a beautiful day and there was a huge crowd of people to see the drawings.

Randy Boyd

I worked on a story about Randy Boyd recently. Boyd is the founder of Radio Systems and was recently named special advisor for Higher Education to Gov. Haslam. I have made photos of him before and every time I do I am always impressed. I made some portraits of Boyd at Pond Gap Elementary School and followed him through the rest of his day. He spends a lot of time at the school with students in after school programs as well as the Big Brothers / Big Sisters program. On this day he attended a musical program with students and then took several kids from both programs to see a University of Tennessee baseball game. Because Boyd donates to the University he gets tickets to every baseball game, he then donates those tickets for kids to see the game along with access to the MVP club. Very cool…very nice…it’s always good to see the better part of humanity in action…and I really like the photos from the day.

Robots

I was out at a robotics competition, the first one I have been to and it wasn’t what I expected. Robots built by high school students had to shoot flying disc’s at a target and then try to climb a pyramid. It was very cool and it looked like they were having a lot of fun.
