Modeling

A couple of weeks ago I did two fashion portfolio shoots. One for Dewayne who was doing hid first photo shoot to start building a portfolio and one for Kara who was adding to her portfolio. I had a lot of fun on both shoots and they both did a wonderful job. Here is one shot from each that I really liked.

Swimming

**Originally posted July 28th** It’s that time again, summer sports are few and far between when there is not a major league baseball team nearby. Last weekend I went to a swim meet for the Knoxville News Sentinel. I shoot swimming every year and this meet was for kids, little kids, the events I saw were for kids eight and under. I almost always have shooting swimming and the kids were great to watch. Here are a couple of shots for the day, not the best form but you can’t beat kids out to just have fun doing what they enjoy!

Football clinic for women

**Originally posted July 28th** Several weeks ago I went and shot the University of Tennessee Football Clinic for Women for the university alumni magazine. It was the first one they have held as far as I know and sort of fun. The UT football couches taught the ladies about football and their program (I think I learned as much as them). Here are a couple of photos from the day…

Civil war

**Originally posted July 28th** Not long ago I went to the Bleak House here in Knoxville, they were dedicating a new memorial related to the civil war. The house was a headquarters for both sides at different times. After I made some shots of the new plaque outside I went in the house to see what else I could find. I ended up with this shot of a reenactor standing at the top of the stairs near a painting that I really liked.

High five

** Originally posted June 23rd** Sometimes when I shoot something for a magazine it won’t publish for several months. This is a good example of that, last February I shot some portraits for Woman’s World magazine and almost forgot about them until recently. I made some portraits of this little girl who says the family dog saved her life when it continued to bark, keeping her up at night. She went in to tell her parents and started having seizures from a brain tumor. She says the doctors told her if she would have had the seizures while sleeping no one would have know until it was to late. This is her playing with her dog and I thought it was a nice little moment. They seem like a really nice family and I wish her well as she grows and heals.

Kayaking

**Originally posted June 23rd** Not long ago I went up and spent part of a day photographing kayakers in the Great Smokey Mountains. One of my hobbies is to go out kayaking but I stick with flat water (rivers, lakes etc.). I kept thinking this doesn’t look to hard I could do this, that is right up until a small two foot drop then I decided that I was staying on my flat water boat. It made for some nice images though.

Baseball

** Originally posted June 23rd** So it’s been a while again, between working and taking care of an infant it seems time gets away from me faster than ever. I will get better at updating now that everything is flowing better. For now…baseball is over here in Tennessee since there is no pro team. I liked this shot from one of the University of Tennessee games earlier this spring. Oooppps he missed the ball…

Ice sculpture

**Originally posted March 20th** This was just cool, a few weeks ago I photographed the UT Culinary Institute make ice sculptures at night. It’s part of the regular class schedule and several blocks of ice were brought in for students to carve. They carved at night because that was the regular class time and it was outside because of the mess made with the ice. They had set up three work lights to carve by and I ended up using the natural light because it created such a mood with the ice flying. It was just cool!

Cheerleading

**Originally posted March 19th** So a few weeks ago I went to a cheerleading competition for a newspaper. I’ve been to several cheerleading competitions over the years for various clients and this was a small one by comparison. There is something I just don’t understand about events like this for little girls….why? Im assuming it’s just me but I really don’t understand what it promotes. Little girls wearing more make up than tammy Faye Bakker and they run around and smile, nod and wink while performing. Maybe it’s just me but I really don’t understand why? I did however make a nice photo, woohoo nice photo. This was a group of girls getting ready to go out on a stage. I really like all the hands and how only one face is shown screaming in the middle of everything.
