I was out at the district track championships a couple of weeks ago and made these. I used to go to a lot of track meets in Texas, I think this is only my second here in Tennessee. I like track and field and always am happy with the photos it makes.

Evelyn Bryan Johnson, known as “Mama Bird” died yesterday. I was lucky enough to go out and make portraits of her a few years ago and am still struck by how amazing she was. Johnson holds the record for most flight hours and about 5.5 million miles traveled while flying and no matter what, she was always excited about flying. Such an amazing person will be missed by many…
Well, now I have to move light stands by myself…I don’t like that anymore. Since January I have had an intern, Shawn Millsaps to help me with shoots, editing and more importantly holding lights. Shawn is going to be an amazing photographer and I am honored to have him work with me while he continues learning about photography. Now how do I go back to regular light stands after having a human light stand.
Last night I was out covering a rally against proposed immigration policies. Several speakers told their stories but overall, I made photos when there wasn’t much happening and I really like these two photos.
Last weekend I was out at the Rossini Festival in downtown Knoxville. It’s an all day Italian and opera street festival. Lots to see, and lots of fun!
